Sweden has released the official videoclip for their entry by Josefine “Allt jag vill ha”. She also made an English version called “Reaching for the Stars”. This is the first time Sweden has both made a video and made an English version. This may be because Josefine is already under the Warner Music label, but it is a good sign. The video is also our first proper look at Josefine!

The Maltese team is working hard on their preparations for Minsk. They’re rehearsing every day with new dancers Sarah and Jade now on board who were picked through an audition. You can follow Nicole’s preparations on her website www.nicoleazzopardi.com. I don’t recall a Maltese delegation putting this much effort into promotion since perhaps Sophie in 2006. Knock Knock! Boom Boom! seems a lot more popular with the public though.. so I wonder if Malta can achieve their best result ever in 2010. I hope so, it is a great song featuring lyrics in the Maltese language and Malta and Serbia are the only countries to actually write the song with no professional help. You can listen to the entry here.
More importantly though, the Nicole and her team want to showcase Malta to the rest of the world and simply have fun. Nicole had this to say –
“I actually cannot believe that this is happening, it is like I am actually living a dream at the moment. We are working very hard to make sure that we put on a very good show on the 20th November. The Girls and I are having loads of fun during these rehearsals because apart from singing and making sure to have everything right, we also have a good laugh and crack some jokes. We have become really close friends, it’s like having five (5) more sisters who care for one another”.
Also tonight Nicole and her vocal coach Glen Vella will be interviewed on Radio International. The Show is broadcast on 106.8FM in the Netherlands and also via the internet via www.radiointernational.tk. The simulcast will be from 2000 – 2300 hours CET.
Here’s some more photos of the rehearsals, I can’t wait to see this act in Minsk! Imagine it on the brand new stage in front of the sold out crowd of 15,000 people!
The Latvian song has been written by Arturs Palkevičš and Guntars Račs (who wrote the Latvian Eurovision songs in 2004, 2006 and 2010, let’s hope he has better luck in JESC :D), along with Sarlote herself. Šarlote Lēnmane is the singer, and her song is Viva la dance!

The video is almost ready, and it is full of bright colours and will be great.

Meet the team from Malta who will be on stage with Nicole Azzopardi in Minsk!
Maria Gauci is 13 years old and comes from Mosta. This town hosts the Rotunda – a huge round church with the third largest unsupported dome in the world.
Dancing takes priority in Maria’s life. She has been taking dance lessons since she was only 7 years old. Maria has reached grade 5 in Ballet, Lyrical and Modern Dance disciplines. In future, she wishes to become a dance instructor.
Maria enjoys swimming all day in summer and adores barbeques on the golden beaches during sunset. Additionally, Maria likes reading novels and her favourite series of books is The Princess Diaries by the author Meg Cabot.
Adventure is a passion for Maria, she has travelled overland together with her family to a number of countries including Germany, Spain, Italy and France. She has also travelled for a short break to Tunisia.
Maria enjoys Mediterranean cuisine with a particular taste for Italian food especially pasta marinara and of course pizza.
Jeanice Gravina was born in 1997. She has just started her 3rd year in secondary education, which she hopes would bring her close to her career aspirations of becoming an accountant. She loves dancing and has been attending lessons in various disciplines, including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Spanish since she was only 3 years old.
Swimming and drama are the other past times that she follows. She is also a member of her school’s choir that is responsible for various events that are put up from time to time, including Christmas and Easter festivities.
Fashion trends, modeling, make-up and hair styling are the TV programs that Jeanice follows most.
Jeanice’s favourite dish remains chicken in all forms and shapes, whilst her love for chocolate is enormous.
This is the second time that Jeanice is supporting Nicole in a dance routine. Her first participation was in 2008 with “Once upon a time”
Mattea Camilleri is 14 years old and is the eldest amongst 5 siblings, 4 girls and a boy. Being the eldest, she helps a lot with the house work and looks after her brother and sisters.
She has been taking dance lessons for over nine years as a primary hobby. Other past times include going to the movies with friends and reading adventure and fiction books in Maltese and English.
Mattea enjoys travelling to foreign countries to learn about different cultures. Her latest holiday was in Spain where she visited a number of cities, including Madrid.
Her favourite food is the traditional Maltese rabbit stew followed by chocolate ice-cream for desert.
Mattea is in her fourth year at the secondary school and she aspires to become an accountant and open her own business. Mattea together with Jeanice and Nicole are all studying accounting principles… who knows, maybe they will become business partners when they grow up!
The backing singers:
Jade Marie Vella has just turned 10 years old and is the youngest member of the Maltese team. She has one younger brother.
Jade’s favourite hobbies are singing and dancing especially Ballet, Hip Hop and Latin American. She started singing already at the age of 3. She took part in the Junior Eurosong final in Malta this year.
Jade has reached grade 6 at primary level school. She takes an active role in school activities especially musicals.
Jade has already travelled to Italy, France and Macedonia to participate in various shows and events. This is not the first time that Jade is supporting Nicole, in fact, a few years back Jade formed part of Nicole’s team in a grand local festival. Jade has a charming character, is jovial and full of life. In fact her motto is “Let’s have fun!”
Sarah Bonnici was born in 1998 in Gozo, the small sister-island of Malta. She is the eldest of two sisters. Her favourite school subjects are English, Music and German. At an early age, Sarah showed her promising talents in singing and dancing. Sarah attends drama, singing and dance lessons and has already won two dance scholarships. During her free time, she enjoys playing the piano. Together with Nicole, she has taken part in the finals of the Malta Junior Eurosong for the last 2 years.
Sarah is an adventurous girl who enjoys information technology. She has presented a children’s IT corner on a weekly local TV programme. Her bubbly character and radiant smile make Sarah very popular among her peers and a loved person by anyone who meets her.

Nicole Azzopardi from Malta has launched her website, it can be found at nicoleazzopardi.com or by clicking here. So far it is available only in English but soon it will also be in Russian or English. It contains photos from her recent photo shoot with Valentina Lupo, as well as videos, a biography and a blog telling all about her preparations for Junior Eurovision. And a page about Malta.. I’m convinced to visit already!
Nicole is one of the favourites this year, she is currently winning our poll and is also one of the favourites in all Eurovision forums. Her team are doing a good job of promotion so far, there are many Russian speaking fans voting in this contest, so making her website available in Russian as well as having a fanpage on popular Russian social networking site VKontakte, or VK.com, is a good move. It is the most visited site in Russia and Ukraine & third in Belarus. For any Russian fans out there, you can add Nicole here. For everyone else, join Nicole’s fanpage on Facebook here!
We’ve had some exciting news! Sweden have finally released details on their entry for 2010 and.. it looks to be a good one. The singer is called Josefine Ridell, and although she is virtually unknown and has never sang before a big crowd before, she is meant to have a very strong voice. The writers of the song besides Josefine herself, are Arash (who represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2009) and Thomas G:son who has written many, many.. many Eurovision songs (51 in total!) including most recently “In a Moment Like This” sang by Chanée and Tomas N’evergreen at ESC 2010. The song will be called “Allt jag vill ha” (Everything I want) and is apparently a power ballad in Beyonce style.
Josefine is 13 years old and living in Malmo. It’s interesting how Josefine was selected, as she is so unknown. Her brother Robin will also be the votes announcer for Sweden. According to Esckaz, next year Sweden will participate in Junior Eurovision, and hold once again Lilla Melodifestivalen.
So far all the information available on the singer can be found at: http://www.svd.se/kulturnoje/nyheter/josefine-tavlar-for-sverige-i-minsk_5435795.svd

Jill & Lauren have won the ticket to Minsk with their song “Get Up!”, ending ahead of DnA, Ymke and Ferre thanks to jury and public voting. The girls will aim to beat the 4th position Laura Omloop achieved last year in Kiev and bring Belgium their best placing yet. Both girls participated in KetnetPop with the 2009 juniors and so were already known to the JESC fans in Belgium. And now they will go to JESC themselves!
Lauren de Ruyck is 14 years old and comes from Drongen. She likes Michael Jackson and Audrey Hepburn, and loves to watch on TV ‘House’ and ‘Gossip Girl’. She carries around all her favourite songs on her ipod including the Junior Eurosong 2010 songs of course! She loves anything with chocolate and also french fries (but no vegetables!). Her favourite subject at school is English but she also enjoys Latin. Besides singing she enjoys watching football and dancing. Her two favourite songs are “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson & “Fields of Gold” by Sting. When she’s older she’d love to move to London and be a singer.
Jill Van Vooren is 15 years old from Sint-Martens-Latem in Belgium. She has 1 older sister called Joyce who looks very similar to her. Her favourite TV programs are Greys Anatomy and Gossip Girl and she is a big fan of Ketnetpop 3, it’s her favourite CD. She also likes Beyonce, Coldplay and Greenday. She would like a pet panda bear and a panther. Her favourite food is fajitas, apple crumble and creme brulee. She loves handmade gifts and also likes going crazy, partying, concerts and playing on guitar. Her favourite school subjects are English, Art and Drama and I just read this, apparently her eyes are so dark they’re almost black. That surprises me. Insects freak her out and she hates hypocrites. She likes tennis and surfing and like Lauren would love to go to London.
Both girls would love to continue singing and acting in the future, but for now they have JESC to conquer. Can they do it, we will see in November.
The same team who wrote “Zo Verliefd” for Laura in 2009 and Mamase for K, Peter Gillis and Miguel Wiels wrote “Get Up!”. The winning performance is below, the act is pretty good, I like the backflip:
